Sometimes a game just doesn’t belong in your Steam library. Perhaps you bought a game that didn’t run well on your PC and you’d like a refund, or maybe you bought an absolute stinker of a game in the past and want the evidence purged from your account. You can do both those things, and we’re going to show you how.

How to get a Steam refund
You can only get a refund on a Steam game if you bought it directly from the Steam store, and you’ve played for less than two hours. Ideally you need to claim a refund within 14 days of purchase, too. If that applies to you, then you’ll be able to get your money back.
You’ll need to access your account history to request a refund. In the top right corner of the Steam client will be your Steam username. Click this, and select Account Details from the drop-down menu. From this new page, click View Purchase History, which is the top item in the ‘Store & Purchase History’ section.
Next, find the game you want to refund in the history list and click it. On the new page will be a set of options, including I would like a refund. Click this, and follow the instructions. You’ll need to fill in a few details explaining why you want a refund. The request will be then sent to Steam, who will reply to you soon. If the request is granted, it typically only takes a couple of days for the money to be refunded to your bank.
How to delete a game from your Steam account
If you have a game in your Steam library that you really wish wasn’t there, you can delete it from your account. You won’t be refunded for it, but if there’s a particularly awful game sitting in your collection this is the way to exterminate it.
You need to first go to your account history, which can be found by clicking your Steam username in the top right corner of the Steam client, and then selecting Account Details from the menu. On the page it opens, click View Purchase History from the Store & Purchase History section.
Find the game you want to delete in the list and click on it to take you a new page, and then click the name of the game again under the I have a problem with a product in this purchase section. On the new page it opens, click I want to permanently remove this game from my account. Follow the steps, and the game will be deleted from your account and game library.
